Almendra

Almendra is a calligraphic serif with pointed terminals, medieval flavor, and a strong manuscript feel. The letters carry enough contrast and ornament to look dramatic at large sizes, but the family was also shaped with reading in mind, which gives it more range than a purely decorative revival.

Ana Sanfelippo designed Almendra, and the current release includes 427 glyphs with Latin and Greek support. The source text links the style to gothic and chancery hands, and also notes that the family was made for extended text, including children’s literature. That gives the design a rare mix of fantasy color and real usability.

Almendra suits storybook design, book covers, historical layouts, posters, and themed editorial work. It is available for both personal and commercial use.
