OPTI Goudy Agency Medium

OPTI Goudy Agency Medium is a free serif typeface from the OPTIFont collection, modeled after Frederic W. Goudy’s classic old-style designs from the early 20th century. It captures the warm, slightly irregular stroke contrast and gentle bracketed serifs that define the Goudy tradition — the same typographic DNA used in The Polar Express movie poster.

Goudy Agency Medium sits between a text and display weight, making it versatile enough for headlines, book covers, invitation designs, and editorial layouts where a traditional serif with personality is needed. The medium weight carries enough visual presence for poster work without the heaviness of a bold cut.

This is a free alternative to the commercial Goudy Old Style Bold (Bitstream). While lighter in weight and narrower in proportion, it shares the same design lineage — Frederic W. Goudy’s original 1915 American Type Founders drawings. Available as a free OTF download for personal use.
