Aurek-Besh is a display font based on the Aurebesh writing system from the Star Wars universe, released in 1999 by Boba Fonts. The Aurebesh alphabet comprises 34 characters used to transcribe Galactic Basic Standard throughout the franchise. The original letter shapes were first glimpsed on monitor readouts aboard the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi, designed by Joe Johnston, and were later formalized into a complete alphabet by Stephen Crane for West End Games in 1993.
The font family includes two styles and provides the full Aurebesh character set, mapping Star Wars glyphs to standard Latin keyboard positions for easy typing. This makes it simple to convert English text into the iconic alien script seen throughout the films, television series, theme parks, and merchandise. The angular, geometric letterforms are instantly recognizable to fans of the franchise.
Aurek-Besh is ideal for Star Wars fan projects, themed party invitations, cosplay props, gaming graphics, and creative designs that reference the galaxy far, far away. The font is free for both personal and commercial use and includes two font files covering different style variations. It pairs well with clean sans-serif fonts for any supporting English text alongside the Aurebesh characters.
