OPTI Dom Diagonal

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
OPTI Dom Diagonal is a free digital revival of the classic brush script designed by Pete Dombrezian for American Type Founders in 1951. The OPTI version — part of the OPTIFont collection released to the public domain — preserves the rhythmic, slightly slanted diagonal cut of the original Dom Casual family, the same typographic DNA used on the The Bling Ring (2013) movie poster.
The diagonal cut gives Dom Casual an energetic, forward-leaning character that feels unmistakably mid-century American — evoking neon signage, drugstore window lettering, and roadside diner graphics. The brush strokes carry just enough imperfection to read as genuinely hand-painted rather than digitized, which is why Sofia Coppola's team used Dom Diagonal Bold for The Bling Ring's satirical take on celebrity-obsessed teenage burglars.
OPTI Dom Diagonal is available as a free OTF download. It's the closest free version of the original 1951 ATF brush script, making it the go-to choice for designers who want the authentic Dom Casual diagonal character without the commercial Bitstream license.
