Garamond Font is designed to be a high-quality, classic Garamond. It’s a collaborative effort to bring back Claude Garamont’s classic humanist typefaces from the mid-16th century. This digital rendition closely resembles Claude Garamont’s original design.
The letterforms were created using a scan of the “Berner specimen,” which was created in 1592 by Conrad Berner, Christian Egenolff’s son-in-law and successor at the Egenolff print business. At different sizes, this specimen demonstrates Garamont’s roman and Granjon’s italic fonts. As a result, the project’s name is Egenolff-Berner Garamond. That typeface represents a watershed point in typography history, and European type designers have been reacting to it ever since. It is the world’s most revived typeface, and many of the examples are great.
