About the Font
Fresh Prince font is a graffiti script font that is used as the logo for the popular American comedy sitcom ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air‘ in 1990. The font is a customized logo design since the letter ‘r’ in ‘fresh’ and ‘prince’ is different. It is designed by production designer, Wendell Johnson. The logo design needed to reflect the content of the sitcom, so Johnson use two different styles for the logo. He designed ‘Fresh Prince’ in graffiti style and ‘The’, ‘of Bel-Air’ in elegant serif style. With these two completely polar opposite fonts, Johnson represented the protagonist and the sophisticated family of the TV series. He took inspiration for the logo design from the book ‘From the Platform: Subway Graffiti, 1983-1989’.
