About this font
Katibeh is a headline typeface that fuses traditions of Naskh and Thuluth Arabic calligraphic scripts with contemporary design elements, created through a collaboration between Kourosh Beigpour for the Arabic design and Eduardo Tunni for the Latin companion, with font engineering by Lasse Fister. The small serif-like outstrokes give Katibeh an archaic quality reminiscent of historical manuscripts, while other contemporary design touches create a typeface that bridges tradition and modernity. Available on Google Fonts under the SIL Open Font License, Katibeh includes essential Arabic and Persian ligatures familiar to native readers and notably features a harmonized Latin typeface for multilingual text applications. The typeface excels in Islamic cultural branding, Arabic publishing, bilingual editorial layouts, and Middle Eastern restaurant signage where authentic calligraphic heritage meets functional modern typography. Katibeh brings centuries of Arabic calligraphic tradition to the digital age.
