Comic Sans

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Comic Sans MS is a casual sans-serif typeface designed by Vincent Connare at Microsoft in 1994. Connare created the font after observing that Microsoft Bob used Times New Roman in cartoon speech bubbles, which he considered too formal. He drew inspiration from comic book lettering in The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen, creating the typeface entirely with a mouse.
Comic Sans was first bundled with the Microsoft Plus! Pack and later included in Windows 95, leading to its widespread adoption. The font features irregular, hand-drawn letterforms with uneven baselines and varying stroke widths that mimic casual handwriting. It became one of the most recognized and debated typefaces in design history.
Despite polarizing opinions among designers, Comic Sans remains widely used in informal contexts including classroom materials, casual signage, children's publications, and personal documents. Its approachable, non-threatening appearance has also led to research suggesting it aids readability for individuals with dyslexia.
