Comic Neue is a casual script typeface designed by Australian graphic designer Craig Rozynski with contributions from Hrant Papazian. Released in 2014 after three years of development, the font was created as a more refined and typographically sophisticated alternative to Comic Sans. Rozynski based his design on the original Comic Sans glyphs, reshaping them into cleaner, more balanced letterforms.
Comic Neue is available in two variants: a standard version with angular terminals and a rounded version with softer curves. Both variants include light, regular, and bold weights with matching italic styles. The font is released under the SIL Open Font License and is freely available for all uses.
Comic Neue works well for informal communications, educational materials, comic lettering, children's content, and web design. It retains the casual, approachable spirit of Comic Sans while offering improved consistency and a more polished overall appearance.
