Broadway Font Family

Broadway Font Family is an iconic Art Deco display typeface originally designed by Morris Fuller Benton in 1927 for American Type Founders, representing perhaps the most archetypal Art Deco letterform ever created. Featuring dramatic thick-and-thin stroke contrasts where heavy black strokes on one side of characters meet extremely thin hairlines on the other, Broadway creates a distinctively abstract and ornamental visual effect. The angles where thick and thin strokes meet give the letters an architectural quality characteristic of Art Deco design. Later expanded by Sol Hess who added lowercase letters in 1929 and an engraved version for Monotype, Broadway has been continuously used since its creation to evoke the glamour of the 1920s and 1930s Jazz Age. This typeface is ideal for vintage theatrical promotions, retro-glamour branding, and Art Deco design projects.
