Bradley

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Bradley is a historic typeface originally designed in 1895 by Herman Ihlenburg from lettering by Will H. Bradley for American Type Founders. Inspired by the Christmas cover of The Inland Printer magazine, the design carries a distinctive storybook character with softened blackletter influences. Its quaint forms suggest old Caxton types while remaining accessible to modern readers.
The simplified letterforms preserve a warm, handcrafted quality with descending capital letters and gentle curves. Bradley sits between blackletter and serif traditions, offering a unique voice that feels both historical and charming. The typeface has been widely copied and revived since its original release.
Bradley works well for book covers, title pages, decorative headings, and projects that call for a vintage literary feel. Its distinctive personality makes it a strong choice for posters, invitations, and editorial designs seeking old-world charm.
