Baloo

Baloo is a cheerful, affable display typeface designed collaboratively by the Mumbai-based foundry Ek Type, notable for being one of the world's first display typeface families to render the ten most-used Indic writing systems in a single cohesive style alongside a Latin counterpart. The Baloo family represents a massive collaborative effort, with Sarang Kulkarni designing the Devanagari, Shuchita Grover handling Gurmukhi, Noopur Datye tackling Bangla, and numerous other skilled designers contributing their expertise across Oriya, Gujarati, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Urdu, and Tamil scripts. The Latin component features rounded, bubbly letterforms with thick strokes and generous curves that project warmth, friendliness, and multicultural inclusivity.
