Assistant Font Family

Assistant Font Family is a contemporary Hebrew and Latin type family designed by Ben Nathan in Tel Aviv as a Hebrew companion to Paul Hunt's Source Sans Pro from Adobe Type, developed between November 2015 and March 2016 for the Google Fonts library. Rather than simply translating Latin letterforms into Hebrew shapes, Nathan focused on understanding the nature and spirit of Source Sans Pro to create Hebrew characters that share its essential character while respecting the unique traditions and conventions of Hebrew calligraphy. The family includes six upright styles from ExtraLight to Black, providing designers with a comprehensive weight range for building sophisticated typographic hierarchies in bilingual Hebrew-Latin contexts. The careful harmonization between scripts ensures visual consistency across mixed-language documents without either alphabet appearing subordinate. Licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Assistant Font Family is essential for Israeli digital products, Hebrew-English publications, educational platforms, and any design project requiring professional bilingual typography with contemporary refinement.
