The Abhaya Libre typeface is a serif font designed by Mooniak. It is a type of foundry based in Sri Lanka. The famous Argentine typeface designer Sol Matas created the Latin part of this font. Google Fonts funded the font design process and made the initial development and release in 2015.
The designer team has added large counters and small ascenders and descenders for optimized screen viewing. So, that could be a better choice for display purposes. Eventually, the font was released in 2016. It is available in 5 weights: Bold, Extra Bold, Medium, Regular, and SemiBold. Each of these weights contains 925 glyphs. The font is available in version 1.030.
