The first French democratic constitution was promulgated a few months later, shifting sovereignty from the king to the French people. This font was inspired by a lawyer’s clear handwriting a farm rental contract a few days after the new French regime took power.
It’s a “Pro” typeface with diacritics for Western (including Celtic) and Northern European languages, Icelandic, Baltic, Eastern, Central European, and Turkish. The numerous alternatives and ligatures allow the typeface to resemble a human hand as nearly as possible.
